Channel production: Canal+ and thematic

CANAL+, the Premium pay TV channel in Spain, is currently distributed in exclusive through Digital+ and is the most viewed channel in the platform's satellite offer. Canal+'s family consists of eleven channels (six of which are in High Definition) that offer each genre's best contents with the maximum quality and the unmistakable mark  of the Plus style: CANAL+, CANAL+2, CANAL+30, CANAL+ ACTION, CANAL+ COMMEDY, CANAL+ DMOVIES, CANAL+ SOCCER, CANAL+ SPORTS, CANAL+ LEAGUE, CANAL+ EVENTS AND CANAL+ GOLF.

CANAL+ offers its viewers the best national and international competitions: the Spanish soccer league, all of the worldwide great Leagues, the NBA - with an even wider coverage - Australia's Open, Wimbledon and the US Tennis Open, the NFL, the Super Bowl, the Six Nations of Rugby, the great golf tournaments, San Isidro's Fair... Fantastic dates that are accompanied by home production spaces that make the channel stand out, such as the Robinson Report - recently awarded with an Onda's award - the new Day After with Juanma Castaño and Santiago Cañizares; the Maldini Fever or the Soccer Day.

No doubt has CANAL+ LEAGUE been the year's greatest leading character, released last August and coinciding with the beginning of the League's new season.

CANAL+ LIGA is a television channel that is exclusively dedicated to soccer and which offers three First Division matches daily, of which Real Madrid or FC Barcelona is always one of the latter. In addition to these, we may also watch two Second Division daily matches, the King's Cup, the new UEFA Europe League and international soccer (Calcio, FA Cup, Bundesliga, the Brazilian League, the Russian League, the Turkish League, MLS USA...). And this year it will be broadcasting all the 2010 World Championship in South Africa.

In February 2010, Digital+ released a new offer by means of which any CANAL+ LEAGUE subscriber may access one of the five matches that the digital platform offers on pay per view (PPV) for only five Euros, that is, that each match they choose will represent a cost of a little more than one Euro.

To top it off, a wide range of programs made with the talent of Canal+'s renowned sports editorial department is to be added to the list.

CANAL+ GOLF has also joined this family of Premium channels. In January 2010, the channel's new ambitious project borne from the desire to offer the best golf in the world was deployed, with the maximum possible image and sound quality, as well as the style, the image and the way of dealing with the sports' show that are typical of CANAL+.

CANAL+ GOLF took over Golf+. You will be able to watch the best golf tournaments held all over the world on CANAL+ GOLF: the American, European and Asian circuits, the four Grand Slams, the Whales Ryder, the female American and European Circuits' tournament or the Evian Masters, among others.

All the movie releases have reached the channel in record time. Great titles, such as El Caballero Oscuro (The Dark Gentleman), Vicky Cristina Barcelona, Australia or Gomorra and, of course, the great movie festival (Hollywood Oscars' Ceremony), have once again been broadcast in exclusive on this channel.

The most awarded series are the CANAL+'s ones, which have come with new seasons this year: Mad Men, - recently winner of another Gold Globe (it has accumulated four Gold Globes and nine Emmies), Damages (Daños y Perjuicios) (four Emmies and one Gold Globe), True Blood (one Emmy and one Gold Globe) or the Tudors (four Emmies), among others.

Likewise, CANAL+ has dedicated relevant spaces in its schedule to great documentary programs, such as Life, - BBC's latest super-production on animal survival behaviour, or the South Pacific, an incredible documentary series that addresses the extraordinary wildlife, the culture and history of this zone.

CNN+ is our country's first non-stop news channel undertaken by private initiative and that is the reference par excellence of the 24 hours' news on a daily basis. CNN+ is broadcast on Digital+, DTT and on the main cable operators.

Loyal to its motto It's Happening. You are watching it, the channel's genuine symbol, its programming is based on an efficient combination of permanent narration of current affairs and the on air broadcast of the main national and international news events.

Moreover, CNN+ broadcasts a series of news, opinion and analysis spaces as a complement, which gives value to the news and contribute in entering into greater detail in events that take place daily all over the world.

Viajar is the travel channel par excellence in our country. Launched in October, 1997, it is a mandatory date for the sightseeing lovers, for travelling, and for discovering other countries and cultures. It may be followed on Digital+ and on cable TV, and its attractiveness for the viewers is indisputable, especially on the weekends, when it becomes one of the documentary channels with the highest share. With a schedule that includes the best national and international productions on travelling and sightseeing, and with home production spaces, the channel captures a share age ranging from between 35 and 54 years of age, an age range that corresponds to the most important travelling fans.

On the other hand, in 2009, in collaboration with Prisacom, El País and Santillana/El País-Aguilar publishing agencies, Viajar/Sogecable created a web on the Internet intending to become the travel webpage par excellence.

Caza y Pesca is the only channel of our country that is monographically dedicated to hunting, fishing and to nature. Included in Digital+'s offer since June, 2003, it counts on over 100,000 subscribers. It aims at a quality schedule that includes contents focused on each one of the topics, and spaces dedicated to nature that convey the passion and respect that both hunters and fishers share for the environment.

Caza y Pesca evenly occupy about 87.3 % of the schedule. The rest of the schedule is dedicated to nature documentaries (12.1%). Most of the programming is national production, whereas around a third of the contents has been produced abroad.

In 2008 Caza y Pesca made its first appearance outside Spain. It did so in Portugal, thanks to its agreement with Zon TV Cabo, the leading cable operator and DTH in the Portuguese market, which broadcasts it as Premium channel on its programming in original version with Portuguese subtitles. 

All of the worldwide sports are broadcast on Sportmanía. Sogecable's senior sports channel offers the greatest national and international competitions on its channel. Its programming includes the great American sports' leagues: the basketball NBA, the American Football NFL - and the Super Bowl - the NHL Stanley Cup of hockey on ice and the best baseball matches of the Major League.

Moreover, every week Sportmanía offers the best live match of the handball Asobal League and gathers the best worldwide sports' images in specialised programs and interesting illustrated reports. A firm bet on the sports' news, in which we may also find the great rugby championships, the Australian Soccer League, paddle, the best wrestling events and extreme sports, spectacular boxing fights, the trial or the Nascar Formula car race.

40TV is a thematic channel dedicated exclusively to Pop music. Its schedule, which consists of current affairs and specialised programs, intends to satisfy all kinds of fans' tastes, with special emphasis on Spanish singers and groups. The dance, heavy, rock music or the indie music, among others, make up an attractive offer that is indispensable for being up to date with the latest music trends.

Spanish music reaches its maximum expression on 40 Latino. The channel, produced by Sogecable Música, responds to the ever-growing interest that the Latin artists arouse, and who are more and more important to the record industry.

Throughout its 24 hour daily broadcast, 40 Latino offers all of yesterday and today's Spanish artists music, as well as the best music releases that come from America, mainly pop, salsa, modern rumba and deeply-rooted sounds.

Available on Digital+, on cable TV and on Sogecable's DTT offer, 40 Latino is always present in the Latin music's great events.
