The environment and sustainable development

The analysis of our business model has led us to establishing an environmental policy focused on minimising the impacts that may be derived from our activities, especially with regard to the use of energy resources and the correct management of technology, both during its use, as well as when we are treating it as a residue. It is our intention to reinforce our commitment with the environment with these activities, improving the organisation's management at all the levels and thus contributing to a better conservation of our environment.

MAIN CONSUMPTIONS

The development of our activities, which involve a high use of technological equipment, makes the power consumption be our most important environmental aspect. We consume other resources, such as gas for heating or drinking water and fuel for the fleet of vehicles we use for transporting both people and materials in less quantity.

Electric Power

We have been carrying out diverse activities in order to achieve higher energy savings in our facilities since 2007. Among these activities, we may emphasize on the installation of timers in the corridors and restrooms, the installation of fluorescent lights in almost all of the large rooms of our work centres with electronic equipment that improve the performance of the fluorescent tubes, etc.

At the moment, we are working on an electric efficiency study, which was has been entrusted to a specialised company, thus hoping to also reduce the indirect releases derived from the electric consumption.

Water
We consume water mainly for our employees' personal health use and for our equipment's refrigeration towers.

In 2007, we deployed measures for saving the water consumption, with emphasis on the installation of sprays in all the faucets of the Group's work centres, thus achieving an estimated 700 m3 reduction.

Paper
Our companies use up an important amount of paper in different formats, for publishing our magazines and for other publicity and postal mail with our clients and subscribers.

In the offices, we prioritize the use of recycled paper for internal use by our professionals, which has helped in reducing its use considerably.

In Sogecable, we have rules and a procedure for the purchase of goods and services that guarantee a selection process of the providers and complies with the principles of Transparency, Publicity, Objectivity, Solvency, and the Awarding to the best economic and technical offer, Motivation of decisions, No discrimination and Respect to the law in force.

Other consumptions

The consumption of products related to the use of audiovisual equipments, mainly for shooting, as well as the consumable ones of the computer equipment, such as the toner, cartridges and cans of ink for printers and photocopiers, which are later recycled, must be highlighted.

THE ENVIRONMENTAL BEHAVIOUR

All of our activities are carried out on urban grounds, thus not affecting either natural spaces or high biodiversity areas or protected species.

Likewise, our antenna facilities have been set up in compliance with the installation laws in each location, which guarantees the compliance with the environmental and persons' health protection law. We count on a Legal Counselling Department, in charge of the follow-up and upgrading of the environmental law that is applicable with regard to garbage dumps, residues or any other impact related to our activity, in order to guarantee complying with the environmental law.

Thanks to this, in the last years, we have not received either any sanctions or fines derived from the non-compliance of laws.
